Monday 15 December: Sarah’s surprise and Ruby’s liquid courage business plan
Sarah ropes in Belle for a secret favour
At the start of the week, Sarah is quietly thrilled when Belle agrees to help her and Jacob pull off a last-minute surprise. The pair whisper and scheme like they’re planning a heist, only this one involves balloons and gender reveals rather than balaclavas.
Sarah is desperate for everything to be perfect as they prepare for the baby’s future, clinging to the idea that a well-staged surprise can make the chaos feel controllable. Belle enjoys being in on the secret, even if she has the slightly haunted look of someone who’s seen enough Dingle surprises to know they rarely go smoothly.
Ruby’s wine empire is born in the worst possible way
Meanwhile, Ruby’s latest big idea arrives at the bottom of a bottle as she drunkenly decides to import wine and start a business. It’s the kind of plan that sounds brilliant when you’re tipsy in the Woolpack and slightly less so when you wake up to invoices and customs paperwork.
She talks excitedly about branding and profit margins, glossing over minor details like licences, logistics and the village already being overrun with booze. By the time the hangover hits, Ruby has committed herself to crates of stock and expectations she has no idea how to meet.
Tuesday 16 December: Ruby hits a wall and Rhona plays a risky game
Jai and Charity put the brakes on Ruby’s dreams
On Tuesday, Ruby discovers that selling wine is harder than shouting “who fancies a drink?” in a village filled with pubs and shops. She struggles to shift the bottles and quickly learns that enthusiasm does not count as a distribution strategy.
Jai and Charity are unimpressed to find she’s trying to compete locally without a licence, which is frowned upon even by Emmerdale standards. Charity steps in and negotiates a deal to buy Ruby’s remaining stock, which should feel like a lifeline but instead feels more like a quiet takeover.
Caleb’s meddling leaves Ruby fuming
Ruby’s relief turns to fury when she discovers Caleb is the one who orchestrated the agreement behind her back. She realises that once again the men in her life have rearranged her world while she was still working on step one.
The deal may clear the immediate debt, but it dents her pride and leaves her wondering if anyone actually believes she can succeed on her own terms. It’s a bitter lesson that in this village, your bright idea can become somebody else’s side hustle before the ink is dry.
Rhona takes chances while Mary grows suspicious
Elsewhere, Rhona is playing a risky game connected to her ongoing legal and emotional battles, convinced she can bend the rules without breaking them. Her behaviour doesn’t go unnoticed by Mary, who has seen enough family disasters to recognise the warning signs.
Mary starts to ask awkward questions and gently digs for the truth, worried that Rhona is heading for another catastrophe. Rhona brushes her off with a strained smile, but the unease lingers like a storm cloud over the veterinary surgery.
Wednesday 17 December: Celia targets Ray and Laurel’s relationship
Celia invites herself to dinner and loves the power
Midweek, Ray is horrified to learn Celia will be joining him and Laurel for dinner at Mulberry, which is the emotional equivalent of serving nitroglycerin for dessert. He begs his mother to be nice, a sentence that has never worked in the history of soap villains.
Celia arrives clocking every detail of their domestic arrangement and quickly decides her son has become far too settled. She revels in the control she holds over Ray, treating the dinner table like an interrogation room with better cutlery.
Laurel is shaken by Celia’s poisonous version of Ray
As the evening goes on, Celia starts casually painting Ray as a manipulative playboy who can’t be trusted. She describes him as emotionally distant and unfaithful, dropping anecdotes like grenades and watching the fallout with clinical interest.
Laurel tries to stay calm, but it’s obvious Celia’s words are getting under her skin and planting doubts she can’t easily shake. When Ray later storms away from Mulberry in anger, Rhona spots his mood and is deeply worried about what might be happening behind closed doors.
Thursday 18 December: Moira discovers Celia’s turkey scam and Bear’s injury is ignored
Moira uncovers forged invoices and confronts Celia
On Thursday, Moira starts looking more closely at the paperwork around her deal with Celia and quickly realises that something doesn’t add up. She discovers invoices for huge orders of turkeys with her signature forged at the bottom, and the penny drops that she has been set up as the fall girl.
Furious, Moira storms in to confront Celia and demands answers, making it very clear she knows exactly what’s been going on. Celia panics for a heartbeat, then snaps straight into performance mode and begins twisting the situation in her favour.
Moira lashes out and worries she’s the one in trouble
Tempers flare and Moira ends up slapping Celia, which may be satisfying but also incredibly unwise when your opponent collects leverage like trophies. Celia pulls a wounded act, painting herself as the victim and carefully avoiding actually denying the fraud.
Afterwards, Moira’s anger is replaced by creeping fear that she might be the one facing legal consequences. She knows Celia is capable of weaponising the slap while quietly continuing her dishonest business, and the thought makes her even more determined to bring Celia down properly.
Charity hints at the truth and instantly regrets it
Back in the village, Charity can’t hide her tension as Vanessa gently probes about the surrogacy for Sarah and Jacob. Under pressure, Charity lets slip a hint that the baby might not actually be their child before she frantically backtracks.
Vanessa clocks the wobble and realises Charity is hiding something big, even if she doesn’t yet know what. It’s the kind of half-confession that can’t be unsaid, and Charity walks away knowing she has just given her ex the perfect reason to keep digging.
Bear’s wound sets off alarm bells
Later, Ray notices a wound on Bear’s arm that looks far from harmless and suggests he should get it checked by a professional. Bear tries to shrug it off with typical bravado, but even he seems uneasy when he sees the state of it.
Celia is quick to rule out any medical help, dismissing concerns and effectively trapping Bear in a dangerous situation. Her refusal adds another line to the ever-growing list of reasons why most of the village would happily see her empire collapse.
Friday 19 December: Moira goes on the offensive as Charity dodges the party
Moira plots Celia’s downfall with trepidation
By Friday, Moira is more determined than ever to bring Celia’s shady operation crashing down, even if the process terrifies her. She knows she’s up against a woman who specialises in turning victims into suspects and isn’t afraid to drag everyone down with her.
Moira steels herself for another showdown, aware that this fight could cost her everything if it goes wrong. The prospect of finally ending Celia’s reign of intimidation, however, is enough to keep her pushing forward.
Celia, Ray and Moira face off as loyalties strain
When Celia, Ray and Moira come together again, the tension is thick enough to carve. Ray is pulled in two directions as his mother sneers about betrayal while Moira pushes him to see the truth about the fraud.
Celia leans hard on emotional blackmail, playing the wounded parent while quietly reminding Ray how much power she still holds. Moira can see him wobbling in the middle and realises that exposing Celia may mean forcing Ray to choose sides once and for all.
Charity ducks the gender reveal and raises eyebrows
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the baby’s gender reveal party, with Sarah excited and blissfully unaware of the secret hanging over it. Charity scrambles to make excuses to avoid attending, terrified that the whole event will drag the truth out of her.
Her absence doesn’t go unnoticed, and those closest to her start to wonder why she’s so keen to dodge a celebration she should be front and centre at. The longer she stays away, the more likely it is that Vanessa and the kids will join the dots she’s been desperately trying to keep apart.
Across the week: Celia’s empire cracks, Charity wobbles and the village watches
Celia loses her grip as enemies close in
Across the week, Celia’s carefully constructed empire starts to wobble as Moira pulls at threads she can’t easily hide. The forged turkeys, the meddling at Ray and Laurel’s dinner and the refusal to let Bear seek treatment all paint a picture of a woman who’s running scared beneath the swagger.
Moira represents a different kind of opponent to Celia’s usual victims, someone who can match her stubbornness and has the bruises to prove it. Whether she’s the one to finally topple Celia or just the latest to be burned in the attempt, the fight is clearly entering its most dangerous phase.
Charity’s secret threatens to blow the Dingles apart
Charity’s slip in front of Vanessa and her attempts to dodge the gender reveal suggest a truth she’s barely admitting to herself. The idea that the baby she’s carrying may not be the child Sarah and Jacob think it is gives the storyline a ticking time-bomb quality.
With Vanessa watching closely and the family already under strain, Charity is rapidly running out of places to hide. When the truth finally comes out, it won’t just be her relationship with the kids at stake but the fragile peace between several branches of the Dingle tree.
